About Me

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Melissa, and my family name is Lissa.  I am a stay-at-home mom, Christ follower, and lover of pretty things.

I am married to Jim, my high school sweetheart, and my best friend.  We got married in July 2000, but we actually met in 1982, when we were just four years old.  We went to the same preschool, and then met again when we were fourteen!  Now that's providence!

Jim is the great love of my life, and I am thankful for him every single day.   It's hard to believe, but I have now known him for longer than I haven't!  I can only pray that my own children will find such godly spouses and know such great love.

In my former life, I was a teacher, but now I find myself teaching my most important students, Brennan and Cora.  (No, I do not home school, as I prefer to keep my sanity.)  My kids are my pride and joy.  They keep me laughing, learning, and occasionally tearing out my hair.  :-)  I love to blog about their growth and their antics, and I hope you will enjoy getting to know them better here.

This is our home in beautiful Tennessee.  We built this house and moved in at the end of May 2010 (just days after the great Nashville flood).  I absolutely love making our house our own.  I'm crazy about decorating it, customizing it, organizing it, and filling it with things that suit our lives.  I love to craft and create, and I especially love making things that have meaning or purpose, as I am very practical... most of the time.

To fulfill my more frivolous needs, I sell Stella and Dot jewelry.  I have always loved fashion and style, but I only have so much money to spend.  Selling Stella and Dot gives me an opportunity to own lots and lots of beautiful jewelry that I wouldn't otherwise let myself buy.

And it gives me some spending money so that I can I buy impractical things like Peppermint Mochas, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, or my new favorite discovery, Salted Caramel Mochas.  Mmmm....

I have been blogging since 2003 - long before the word "blog" was common vocabulary.  It is a way for me to document my life and leave a piece of history for my kids, share my passions and interests with others, and grow and learn more about myself.  I hope you'll join me (and leave a comment to let me know you've been here)!
