Why Has No One Told Me About This?!?

Today I tried freezer paper stenciling.  Oh. My. Goodness.  Is this craft up my alley, or what?!  Why has no one told me about this before now?  (And if you did, why didn't I listen??)

(This photo is small because it's blurry.  Try getting a nearly-five-year-old child to stand still for a photo after pre-school.)

While checking out some links at a recent linky party, I ran across some adorable Valentine's Day shirts made with freezer paper stencils.  I had never heard of such a thing, so I followed a trail of links to this, a video tutorial on how to make a freezer paper stencil.

I love personalizing.  I love painting.  I love inexpensive.  I love easy.

I see a lot of shirts in my future.

I made this Valentine's Day shirt for Brennan, and I just had to choose a complicated design as my first shirt.  It required two different stencils laid on top of each other in two phases, but it worked out great!

(Can you see the brown letters I've already painted, hidden underneath the second stencil?)

And since I had already cut out the letters of Brennan's name, I decided not to put them to waste.  I made him an everyday shirt, as well.  Way more practical than a Valentine's Day shirt.

Besides the fact that I paint everything uphill, I'm in LOVE!  (Hopefully it won't be obvious when it's on?)

(Yes, I'm aware of the little paint glitch in the E.  I figured he'd wear maybe wear this shirt three times, so it wasn't worth a trip to buy white fabric paint and perfect it.)

Have you ever tried freezer paper stencils?

  3. I love love LOVE freezer paper stenciling! Since I don't have kids to make t-shirts for, there's no way my bf would wear one, and I didn't want one for myself I opted to making a Valentines Day throw pillow instead. I love how versatile this is. Can't wait to see what else you come up with in the future with it.

If you want to see my pillow, check out my post here http://simple-sweetlife.blogspot.com/2011/01/spread-love.html

  5. Gaylene, you can get freezer paper at Wal-Mart near the Ziplocs, etc. I'm not sure where else you can get it. I also got a new X-Acto knife there. The paint, however, I had to get at Michael's. Hope this helps! Good luck!!
